Like You Really Want to Know More

So just when I thought Facebook had out facebooked it self with their last crazy invention they surprise me once again.  Do I really want the entire world have that much quick access to me?  Do I really want to embarass myself not just for my subscribers but to my 300-some odd friends on Facebook?  Do I really want to place my life that far out there?  The answer is: Yes.  Why? Because I'm a moron.    No offense to whomever else has decided to grin and bare it.   My only real issues is that these "notes" just make us lazy and dull.  It used to be if you wanted to stalk someone you really had to get creative and put some effort into it. You had to search through their profile for a screenname and that profile had to be searched to find a link and that link had to be searched to find the mother load and that mother load had to be searched for the really juicy stuff.  This is what has happened to us, we have reached a level of laziness where we don't even want to put out a good effort in attempt to find out who he's really dating.   Now all we do is double-click and we can read all the gory details about that "bitch" 

I remember back in the days before facebook, and, yes, even before myspace, if your crush had a new date/crush/bf/gf, it was a glorious struggle to get any information at all.  Talk about being subversive.  We were stranded with aol not even aim.  We had to conive someway to get our crush's info, then get his new girl's info.  That in and of itself was a challenge. It meant long days on the playground trying to easedrop, passing notes while Sister Anne wasn't looking(not that she ever looked), begging and pleading to get your friends to get their friends to get their friends to help you out. 

 But today we don't need that network of friends, all you need is one little account and the world is your oyster. 

Upon rereading, this rant sounds like I have more experience then I really do.  I was rarely the one crushing onsomeone, but having a strong moral code means helping friends in need.  Right. 

Anywho.  I also wrote this rant because my last entry is about people dying, which is exactly what I wanted my first note to be about.  That paints a happy picture.  I'm sure there will be more uplifting entries to come but thats life in the medical field. 

Last night was surreal.  I had stuff happen at work that was just weird.  The pt I was sitting for died.  We all knew it was coming, he was a hospice patient and he was really struggling.  But watching a person actually die right in front of you is surreal.  Since he was a hospice patient he was DNR so we didn't have to try to bring him back, but it was weird. And sitting there with a dead body in the room was even weirder.  I"ve been to more funerals then I'd liked, and still the fact that I watched him take his last breath is odd.  The oddest thing was is I"m not even bothered by it.  Welcome to my profession

On a more uplifting note, I've spent quality time with my lil cousins.  In the past week, I've babysat for them twice and the girls and I had a blast.  Sherry, my cousin and the girls' mom, has found this new doctor to date, so the one night I was there I told her to go out and I'd put the girls to sleep.  Sherry got really nervous about that because she told me that no one had been able to get them to sleep, but her.  Well, when the good doctor brought her home at midnight , I had the girls sleeping soundly for a good couple of hours.  Sherry was stunned.   Yay me!  On the downside, now I'm the one who gets the call if she gets another date.  O well, the girls are two and cute as a button.  I love those girls.  Saturday, I went to a wedding shower for a cousin I haven't seen in years.  She looked amazing.  She had on this really cute white strapless dress, but was wearing a thong and everyone knew it. To my female friends a word of advice: SLIP!  I think seeing her ass and the outline of the thong was worse then panty lines. If she would have worn a slip it would have been fine.  O well, I got to catch up with the Pennsylvania part of the family.  I admire my Aunt Annie, she is 86 and still goes line dancing twice a week.  Damn, I hope to be that active and happy when I'm 86
